First post! Woop Woop!

Heya everyone!

I guess because this is my first post I should introduce myself to the people who doesnt know who I am! My name is Jesper Freyschuss, but some people at Tiger call me “Young Jasper”. I dont really remember where that nickname came from but I kind of like it ^^

Eventhough my nickname says “Young” thats not quite true! Im Turning 26 this year, but in my opinion you are only as old as you feel! Been training MMA for about 3-4 years now. I live in a small town in Sweden, so the gym I train at isnt that big either. Me and a couple of friends actually started up the gym, at the beginning we were doing boxing but we got bored of it and wanted to try something new! So we decided to start an MMA school from scratch! So we havnt really had the luxury to have the top notch coaches and stuff. But now after 3-4 years we have become a pretty legit MMA school. Still small, but atleast now we know what the hell we are doing! :P

Had a job as a welder back home, but then the financial crisis struck and I got laid-off.  Luckily for me I had some money saved up, and after reading Andreas Hesselbäck’s blog about living in Thailand and training at Tiger I decided to give it a shot! It was one of my best decisions Ive made in my life! I love it out here! My first trip I stayed 8 months. But that wasnt enough for me! So I was back home for about 6 months and now Im back! Only have a one way ticket for this trip so we’ll see how long im staying this time around :)

During my 6 months at home I fought a couple fights in Shootfighting. Shootfighting is like light MMA. Its pretty much the same rules as amateur MMA but no punches on the ground.
I placed third in the Swedish Shootfighting League 2011. It felt good but still a bit disappointing because I knew I was worthy a place in the finals! I dont wanna bash the league too much but I think the point system in the league is strange. They put a lot of weight to go as many fights as possible, so the more fights you have the more bonus points you get.
So in the end my three wins wasnt enough to get to the final, eventhough I won against two guys that were ranked first in my weight division! ^^  So in the end of the league my record was 3-0, and BOTH guys in the finals had 2-3(!!!!) in record. Two wins and three losses! It still makes me a bit bitter when I think of it! lol

I think they have changed the pointing system for this year, so hopefully it’s for the better :)  /bash

So the third place is one of the biggest accomplishments in my martial arts career, the other one is my blue belt who I got from my “big brother”, Professor Ray Elbe! Got it in the end of my first trip. Felt really proud and happy for it. Now Im working on my purple! Got one stripe so far, only a few more to go! :P

I think thats enough for my introduction, probably missing something but it’s getting late and I need my beauty sleep!

Hopefully I did a decent job on my first blog post! Everyone who powered through the whole thing deserves a high five! Hoping to update the blog atleast twice a week!

See you guys at Tiger! Over and out!
